Again on Twitter Gaming layoffs continue in 2024. It seems more common place now EA previously had a round of layoffs in 2023, but it looks like this time they need to have more sustainability on their business. They are moving away from licensed IP and doubling down on their own projects IPs and communities.
I am reminded that change is a constant in the games industry, and game developers need to adapt to stay ahead. With advancements in technology, shifts in player preferences, and the emergence of new platforms, staying static is not an option. I am not sure what EA goals are, Whether it’s embracing new development tools, exploring emerging market trends, or finding innovative ways to engage players, adaptability is crucial for success in this dynamic and ever-changing industry.
It’s not easy to say just adapt I wonder how workers and developers can thrive now in this era of hyper change.

According to Wilson, EA will double down on owned IP, sports, and “massive online communities.” While Wilson did not provide details on which games would be sunset, EA already announced it would be shuttering two mobile games: F1 Mobile Racing and MLB Tap Sports.
“This greater focus allows us to drive creativity, accelerate innovation, and double down on our biggest opportunities — including our owned IP, sports, and massive online communities — to deliver the entertainment players want today and tomorrow. Lastly, we are streamlining our company operations to deliver deeper, more connected experiences for fans everywhere that build community, shape culture, and grow fandom,” Wilson wrote.
