UPDATE: Claude Fable is coming back soon. but it was written when Fable 5 access was cut off.
Saw two videos today about some YouTuber trying to make Minecraft and Other games in AI using the latest Claude Fable. (not the game)
Well, the long shot of it is that with the latest model fable was able to generate Minecraft now it did manage to generate some simple blocky game for the fortnight demo and the GTA demo, but it all falls flat.
Now the thumbnail was click baity and there was all kinds of video popping up from making games, websites. Yes even me using AI to make this thumbnail.
AI looks at the past not future
I remember awhile back to take -two CEO was talking about AI and while he feels is useful, it’s just based on past data it doesn’t generate hits and that’s the problem right now that a lot of of the YouTubers are getting clicks, showing some interesting demos of vibe coding games and apps, but I got a feeling that nobody is going to play them as maybe other AI circle jerkers.

Goverment Risk
Now I read before that Supabase had a similar incident where they were cut off by the Goverment in India.
The rule is to not put too much into one system or process it can get kill overnight due to security issues.
Conclusion
Right now with Claude Fable taken offline I don’t think it will impact much on Game Dev. I feel AI is just not there yet.
Looking at Rami Ismail if AI is being used to make pitches so are the publishers reading the pitch decks using AI to summarise.
Those that lean into the craft of making games will know where to utilise it and accelerate their productivity. Those that don’t will make flat stuff.
I believe it can create whatever you want. Do we have to rely on AI to make things? No. This has shown that we can truly create on our own—real creators. It all comes back to craft.
