Wanted to post this before the Microsoft Layoff but the Activision Blizzard story was taking space.

It all started with seeing this post on X / Twitter affected staff across the globe. This is a continuing trend of Tech Layoffs in 2023 and into 2024.
Riot Games announced ( as of writing this) the company is cutting 11% of their workforce about 500 Staff. This includes Artist, Sound Engineers, programmins and marketing staff.
I also felt the loss of Riot Forge where indie studios can create games on Riot IP. Would have been interesting to see what kind of new games projects that they come up with.
Riot seems to be focusing on their core products mainly Valorant and league of legends. Other projects like the MMO might take a back seat at this time.
My feelings go out to those affected and I feel that its time to take stock of things, the boom run of entertainment during covid is gone. this seem in line with the tech sector layofss of last year 2022 and at the 2nd of 2022, perhaps there was an overhiring during this period or cost not controlled well.
