The anime game wave isn’t slowing down — and Limit Zero Breakers from NCSOFT and VIC Game Studios is riding it hard.

Formerly known as Breakers: Unlock the World, the game was officially renamed Limit Zero Breakers at Tokyo Game Show 2025.  It’s an anime-style action RPG that puts you in the world of Seraphia aboard the Weaverwhale airship, chasing the mythic Archive of the Gods alongside a crew of adventurers called the Breakers.

The combat looks punchy and reactive — players time dodges and parries to land counterattacks, activate Break Mode for cinematic finishers, and chain elemental reactions with no limits on combinations. It blends hunting-action boss battles with rich anime-inspired storytelling, which is a smart combo for the Asian gaming market.

The MAPPA Factor

The big flex here is the anime pedigree. VIC Game Studio has a partnership with MAPPA Studio — the team behind some of the most acclaimed anime in recent memory — alongside a marketing deal with Kadokawa. That’s serious anime credibility, and it shows in the cutscenes.

Where It Stands Now

The Prologue Test launched yesterday on June 10, 2026, running through June 15 on Steam, iOS, and Android. Players who got in can try 11 playable characters and take on five raid boss encounters, both solo and in co-op. The full release is still TBD.

My Take

Anime games are genuinely trending right now, and design-wise this one will land well with gamers across Asia especially. The visual style is polished, the IP partnerships give it real credibility, and the combat looks deep enough to retain players beyond the honeymoon phase.

The PC-first, mobile-to-follow strategy also makes sense — cross-platform play on PC and mobile is confirmed,  and it mirrors what successful titles in the genre have already proven out. Get the core audience hooked on PC, then extend the reach.

The real question is whether it can carve out space in a crowded gacha-adjacent market. But with MAPPA’s name attached and NCSOFT’s distribution muscle, it’s got a better shot than most.
