Robert Bowling in a LinkedIn Post announced his new game studio //18.bravo.
The former Creative Strategist for Games like Call of Duty and Midnight Society (Dead Drop, Now defunct) has announced a new studio.
A rethink on how games are made and monetized. He is definitely not trying to chase the live service trends.
One of the interesting things is that the studio, if you ever shut down, open sources, assets and code, except for some of the third party or license music to the community.
“Videogames are over-commercialised. As an industry, we’ve neglected our players and abused our staff to focus on ever increasing profits projections,” he says. “Live service is killing development teams, unending content treadmills of [free-to-play] gaming are draining players, and the AAA studio system has failed. It’s time for a radically different approach, and we’re doing it or will die trying.”
