saw this post on Gaming on Linux about the Carbon engine go open sourced on GitHub, used in their games EVE Online and EVE frontier.

Fenris Creations (Formerly known as CCP Games) made the announcement a while back, my guess this is something to do with the Google team up for AI and then going independent again.

it’s good for open source but the engine like Dagor is in Parts and probably not worth looking at it now until they release the template or how to use it, this would probably interest game engines developers but not general developers wanting to make games, as there is no editor.

I would not recommend to make games with this unless you really like game engine tech or have a dedicated developer making game engines.

Now the thing is Fenris is probably going to show a template in the future hopefully, how to build a game using these tech I doubt it can replace The big engines like Unity or Unreal or Godot.

Based on the games industry article it feels like Fenris Creations hopes to get users to contribute to the game via the engine looking for bugs and security issues, they also got advice from Godot and how to run some of these open source projects, Still it’s a neat project to be part of for open source.
