What I like about it is he is going back to the roots of what made halo good at least visually. Understanding the limitations of the art style and hardware rather than using AI and throwing everything at it and hoping for the best.
May, I noticed this trend a few years ago about people using game age, such as unity and unreal to recreate their favourite franchises in the game engine. He stresses this is not part of Halo Studio
This is not like a Roblox clone or Fortnite mod, but a standalone game.
One thing he mention is trying to remake halo with the design principles used on the older games like the artstyle and gameplay. Initally was trying to make halo wars with battlefront with some halo aspects but he scrapped it
Right now there is the ability to make full actual game and gameplay systems, featuring your favourite characters, maybe it’s just nostalgia, that’s hitting up some of this older players like myself that wish and crave for the I guess a more authentic time of gaming rather than something that corporation shut down your throat of what it should be.
Thoughts
I remember coming across some guys using Unreal engine to make say their own attack on Titan or Dragon Ball game, this is not like cheap stuff that they were doing in Roblox, but handmade stuff with animated characters and mechanics looking like a full actual game with the character, models, gameplay systems, and sound effects everything and it just ended up as a fan made project nothing more.
One trend I am thinking and seeing is that with the reason changes every genre of gaming from my time was single player games to RPG. Then we have MMO slide Warcraft after that was the destiny era, the never ending like whole games like fortnight destiny, Apex Legends, Hero shooter games that I feel that is ending right now and we’re going to what we call friends, but I also think that could be a new trend of thanks to Roblox right fan made full games where you make full games and you know let people enjoy.
Cannot Monetise
I don’t know what is a licensing and corporate issues on these types of games has to be checked maybe he needs a license? But according to the Developer he cannot make money off this project at this stage.
